2025 Parish Retreat

Join us for a fun parish family event at the Lakeside Cabins at Camp Allen May 16-18, 2025. Registration is open and the cost per room is $350 and a $50 deposit is required to hold your room. There is an early bird discount of $50 so if you register by March 1, 2025 the cost is $300. Shared rooms will also be $300/$350 per room with a $50 deposit. The registration fee covers lodging and food for everyone in your family. When you register through Realm, only register one person per family (to get the one time fee) and then list the others that will attend in the comments section. Camp Allen offers a variety of free events as well as paid events that we can sign up for (those fees are separate from your registration) - more info to come about those. Individuals may share a room with another person, if so desired (up to three per room if someone is ok with a top bunk). You can register online through Realm Events or send an email to sally@christchurchtemple.org and we can add you to the list. Lenten Series

The annual Lenten series will be on Wednesday evenings in Lent at 6 pm at Sol de Jalisco, 4201 S General Bruce Dr, Temple. We will use Living Well Through Lent: Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit In Heart, Soul, Strength, and Mind. Pick up a copy (only 50 printed available) on the table outside the Library. Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Foundation

The Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Foundation is pleased to report that the Foundation recently made a $1,500 grant to G. A. Whitehead from the Foundation’s Endowed Seminarian Fund. The grant will be used by G. A. for his seminary expenses. The Endowed Seminarian Fund is the oldest permanent endowment fund held by the Foundation. It was established in 1976 shortly after the Foundation was created. The sole purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to seminarians from the Diocese of Texas, particularly seminarians from Christ Episcopal Church. It is patterned after a similar diocesan endowment fund established in 1928 in memory of Bishop George Kinsolving who served as Bishop of Texas from 1892 to 1928. The initial contribution to the Seminarian Fund was made by Mrs. Roy (Ailene) Strasburger: mother of Tommy Strasburger, grandmother of Gregg Strasburger, great-grandmother of Erin LeDoux, and great, great-grandmother of Everett and George LeDoux. Over the years, the Strasburger family has added memorial donations to the Fund to create a lasting legacy from the Strasburger Family. Over the history of the Fund, distributions have been made to several seminarians from Christ Episcopal Church, including Tom Murray, Casey Shobe, Chad Martin, and more recently G. A. Whitehead. The Fund is a good example of so-called legacy gifts made by parishioners to the Endowment Foundation. Those donations are added to existing permanent endowment funds that last forever and provide ongoing support for Christ Episcopal Church. In addition to the Seminarian Fund, the Foundation holds an Endowed Maintenance Fund and an Endowed General Fund that can be used for any purpose benefitting Christ Episcopal Church
